Rising Global Recognition

Vietnam also gains international recognition for its advancements in AI. In 2025, Vietnam was ranked 6th out of 40 countries in the World AI Index, putting the country among the top 10 globally for its AI preparedness and adoption, according to Vietnam Economic Times.

The reputation is not just confined to the ranking, as international organizations and tech firms today increasingly see Vietnam as a viable destination to develop and employ AI.

Business Sector Leads Adoption

Vietnam businesses have embraced AI technology At an impressive rate, Vietnam businesses have adopted AI technology. This was seen in a surge in AI technology use in 2024, when 47,000 new businesses adopted AI, taking the total number of businesses that have adopted AI technology in Vietnam so far to 170,000 (Viet Nam News).

Since the application of AI depends on the need of the industry, the financial sector uses AI for detecting fraud and implementing customer service chatbots. Online shopping companies also use AI for personalized customer service and for managing inventory. Manufacturing companies use AI for quality checks and predictive machine maintenance.

Young Users Drive Momentum

Further, Gen Z adopts AI the most, as young adults aged 18-24 years use it at the highest rate at 86%, followed by daily usage at 40%. This comfort level among Gen Z means that the future growth of AI usage will come from this demographic (Decision Lab).

Students love AI tools the most. They use artificial intelligence for research, for learning, for creation of content, and for projects. This introduces the workforce to AI that can benefit them in the future, creating a tech-savvy workforce.

Practical Applications Expand

Diverse applications of AI systems have contributed to the digital transformation in Vietnam. Personalized education systems for individual learners have been explored by education institutions using AI systems. Healthcare organizations have also sought AI-based diagnostic systems and patient monitoring systems. Intelligent systems have been applied to logistics companies. The benefits of AI are not limited to large organizations.

Small businesses are also able to access the benefits of AI. For example, many artificial intelligence services may be acquired through the cloud, which are then made affordable to small businesses. In this way, small businesses are able to successfully compete.

Infrastructures Improve

Strong digital infrastructure can allow for easy adoption of AI technologies. Expanding internet connectivity in rural areas ensures that AI can be accessed from these areas. Access to cloud computing services can also support the computing requirements of AI technologies without the individual incurring the cost of the hardware.

Moreover, the mobile networks provide AI-based application services for the users’ smartphones, which is a better option for the Vietnamese because the computer is not the primary choice for digital usage.

Challenges Persist

Despite such strong progress, there is resistance. High-quality AI talent is in short supply compared to demand. More companies compete to keep talented individuals who can build and sustain AI systems. Implementation speed is sometimes possibly desiring for this reason.

Data quality and availability also pose serious challenges. AI systems perform best with large, clean datasets. Organizations are working to improve data collection, storage, and management practices to facilitate higher-performing AI outcomes.

An AI-Ready Nation

The achievements in AI adoption in Vietnam pave the way for the future advancement of the country in the field of technology. The enthusiastic government, business sector, young and tech-savvy people, and open societies provide the perfect environment and guarantee the success of AI in the country.
