Running a business today is not as simple as it used to be. Technology is changing quickly, customer behaviour keeps shifting, and many entrepreneurs are trying to find smarter ways to grow.

To support this, Eco World Development Group Berhad (EcoWorld) recently organised the EcoWorld Connects Leadership Exchange Masterclass at Eco Ardence in Setia Alam.

The event brought together Malaysian entrepreneurs, founders, and business leaders to share real experiences and practical lessons about scaling businesses, building brands, and staying competitive.

More Than Just Property Developments

EcoWorld says the initiative reflects its broader vision of creating communities that go beyond housing.

Instead of focusing only on residential spaces, the company is building environments where businesses, networking, and collaboration can happen naturally. Developments like Maya Corporate Office Suites in Eco Ardence are part of this approach.

The idea is to create spaces where people can live, work, and grow their businesses within the same community.

Businesses Need Systems to Grow

One major topic discussed during the session was scalability.

Shin Kong, Founder and CEO of Aimazin AI Digital Human Technology, shared that many businesses struggle because too much depends on the founder alone.

She explained that AI tools and system-based operations can help businesses automate tasks, improve customer engagement, and create more stable growth over time.

This reflects how more Malaysian businesses are starting to adopt digital tools to stay efficient and competitive.

Branding Still Matters in a Competitive Market

The masterclass also highlighted the importance of branding and trust.

Eddie Tan, Founder of Cake Tella & Keto Cake, shared that having a strong product is no longer enough on its own. Businesses also need clear positioning and consistent storytelling.

According to him, trust plays a major role in long-term growth, especially in crowded industries where consumers have many choices.

This is becoming increasingly important as businesses compete not only on price, but also on brand identity and customer connection.

Financial Discipline Remains Important

Another key discussion focused on financial planning.

Finance educator Bob Ngoh explained that many entrepreneurs focus heavily on generating income but overlook long-term financial structure and discipline.

Without proper planning, businesses may struggle during difficult periods or miss opportunities for sustainable expansion.

The session encouraged entrepreneurs to think beyond short-term profits and focus on building stronger foundations.

Balancing Tradition and Modern Growth

For traditional businesses, adapting to change can sometimes be difficult.

Vanessa Chong, CEO of S W Aroma & Foo Kwai Heong, shared that businesses need to modernise carefully while keeping the identity that makes them unique.

This balance between heritage and innovation is becoming more relevant as older businesses try to stay connected with younger consumers and changing market expectations.

Building Community-Driven Business Spaces

The event also reflects a larger trend happening across Malaysia.

More businesses today are looking for environments that combine work, lifestyle, and networking opportunities together. Community-driven business spaces are becoming more valuable as entrepreneurs seek stronger collaboration and support systems.

Through EcoWorld Connects, EcoWorld aims to create developments that bring people, ideas, and opportunities together in one ecosystem.
