Pos Malaysia Kota Buku Collaboration Supports B40 Students

When a Pos Malaysia truck arrives at a school, most people expect letters or parcels. Recently, however, some of those deliveries have carried something much more meaningful. Through the Pos Malaysia Kota Buku collaboration, recycled exercise books are now reaching students who need them most.

A simple delivery may actually stand for a bigger idea. The project connects education and sustainability by making school supplies out of recycled paper. It also helps families save money on school supplies every day.

Supporting Students Through Sustainable Education

The effort forms part of the Two Million Recycled Exercise Books Driving Sustainable Education programme.

During the second phase of the campaign, more than two million recycled exercise books were delivered to 4,120 Ministry of Education schools across Malaysia. In total, the initiative has benefited over 200,000 students nationwide.

It can be hard for many B40 families to pay for even small amounts of education. Exercise books may look simple, but they are very important for learning every day. The program helps ease financial stress by giving the supplies directly to schools. This way, many students will have everything important that they need to fully participate and focus in class.

The impact is significant. Overall, the initiative is estimated to have helped families save around RM2.4 million in school supply costs.

Turning Recycled Materials Into Learning Opportunities

The programme also carries an environmental message to the public awareness.

The program gives out many exercise books made from recycled paper. Due to this simple step it has helped save an estimated 2,832 trees, showing how everyday classroom supplies can help the environment.

Production of the recycled notebooks is led by Kota Buku, a government agency under the Ministry of Education. Beyond supplying materials, the programme also encourages students to think about the importance of recycling and responsible resource use.

In this way, sustainability becomes part of the learning experience itself.

Delivering Support Across Malaysia

Making sure the books reach the right schools requires a reliable delivery network. This is where Pos Malaysia plays a key role.

Pos Malaysia can easily deliver the materials because its logistics network reaches more than 11 million addresses every day. The group also has a delivery rate of over 90% for the next day, so schools can get their supplies right away.

The deliveries are organised by Pos Care, Pos Malaysia’s social initiative team. Priority is given to schools with higher numbers of B40 students, making sure the help reaches the families who need it most.

For this phase of the programme, deliveries focused on schools in:

  • Perlis
  • Kedah
  • Penang
  • Perak
  • Kelantan
  • Terengganu

All deliveries were completed in January 2026.

A Small Notebook With A Bigger Purpose

Recycled exercise books programme

Each participating school received two cartons of exercise books, which works out to about 400 notebooks per school. These supplies will be to help the teachers and student in class immediately.

More importantly, the program is part of a bigger effort to help communities and promote more responsible use of natural resources.

The partnership between Pos Malaysia and Kota Buku shows that big actions don’t always lead to real change. It can start with small things that no one notices but that can have a big effect.

In this case, a used exercise book can really help one student learn, grow, and get closer to a better future.
